From The Past to the Present

The State Bank of Greenville was chartered in 1976.  January 03, 1977 the State Bank of Greenville opened in Greenville, Missouri.  In November 1980 a branch was opened in Wappapello.  Under the guidance of Bank President J.D. Hackworth the State Bank of Greenville continued to flourish and was able to build a new building in Wappapello in October 1989.  For a quarter of a century our bank has served Wayne County and has been the only bank serving the Greenville and Wappapello communities.  After expanding into the Piedmont community in 1991, the State Bank of Greenville changed its name to Peoples Bank of Wayne County.  After 12 dedicated years with the bank J.D. Hackworth retired in March 1993.  Due to continued growth and expanding into other counties the bank name changed once again with Peoples Community Bank chosen as the new name.  In December 1996 the bank expanded into Stoddard County opening a branch in Puxico. In November 1996 a new building was opened in Piedmont.  After 15 years of service and holding several titles, M. Angela Thurston was named the Bank President in August 1997.  In July of 2000 the bank expanded into Bollinger County and opened a facility in Marble Hill.  The Puxico branch received a new building in October 2002. 

In the past Peoples Community Bank was proud to serve and grow with our communities, the present and the future is no different.  Now 5 facilities strong Peoples Community Bank will continue to provide the service our customers have come to expect.
