From The Past to the Present
The State Bank of Greenville was initially chartered by the State of Missouri for one location in Wayne County in 1976 with a total capital of $600,000.00. On January 3, 1977, the State Bank of Greenville opened for business in Greenville, Missouri. In November, 1980, a second bank was opened at Wappappello. The State Bank of Greenville continued to flourish and was able to build a new building at Wappapello in October 1989. For over a quarter of a century our bank has served Wayne County and has been the only bank serving the Wappapello community. After expanding into the Piedmont community in 1991, the State Bank of Greenville changed its name to Peoples Bank of Wayne County. In November, 1996, a new building was opened in Piedmont. The bank expanded into Stoddard County in December, 1996, when a Puxico branch was opened. To accommodate continued growth and the expansion into other counties the bank name changed to Peoples Community Bank in February of 1996. In July of 2000 the bank expanded into Bollinger County and opened a new facility in Marble Hill. The Puxico branch received a new building in October, 2002. The bank expanded to Southwest Missouri in January 2011, with facilities in both Washburn and Seligman. The Bank now has total assets of approximately $145,000,000. and has locations in Wayne, Stoddard, Bollinger and Barry Counties with full service banking six days a week.
In the past Peoples Community Bank was proud to serve and grow with our communities; the present and the future is no different. Now seven facilities strong Peoples Community Bank will continue to provide the service our customers have come to expect.
