Financial Scams

Financial Fraud Protection

Financial scams are on the rise targeting everyone of all ages. You may think you would never fall for a scam but until you have been placed in the situation you may not realize how easily it can happen.
  • Contact claiming to be from a government agency, law enforcement or a bank asking you for money is a red flag! Even if the the call, text or email seems legitimate always contact the business by looking up a direct phone number.
  • Asking for money to receive a prize or gift is a scam.
  • Demanding a wire transfer, sending gift cards, money sent via crypto or a phone app is more than likely a scam.
  • Romance scams are real and with the advances in Artificial Intelligence it can seem you are talking with the person they are claiming to be. If you have not met the person face to face you should never send them money.
  • Feeling pressured to act quickly due to time limits or an emergency is another scam tactic and you should always properly investigate for legitimacy.
  • Deals that seem too good to be true usually are. Take time to think about the offer and do research to see if it is real or a scheme.
  • Know where your money is going.  It is easy to make purchases on websites or to a person selling something online but you should always investigate further to verify credibility.
